We’re really excited here at Rawside Furniture Co to announce a partnership with Cool Earth, a game-changing charity who work tirelessly alongside indigenous villages to halt rainforest destruction.

From now on, every owner of a Bad Boy Table will be the proud sponsor of an acre of forest. You’ll be responsible for saving a piece of land which is not only home to precious oxgyen-giving trees but a haven for precious plants, weird and wonderful animals, and people who have lived there all their lives and want to carry on having the choice to do so.

It’s also part of our drive to make sure our materials are responsibly sourced and that every part of the process is something of which we’re proud.

Here’s a little more information about the amazing project in the heart of the Amazon that we’ll be supporting:

In 2008, the village of Cutivireni was offered a logging contract that would have committed them to selling off their rainforest. Having been in the heart of Peru’s Amazon for thousands of years, the arc of deforestation had arrived on their doorstep.

With every family below the poverty line but desperate not to sell out to the loggers, the village elder, Cesar Bustamante, contacted Cool Earth. Cutivireni turned away the loggers and formed a partnership with Cool Earth. Our Ashaninka project was born.

Since then, 14 of Cutivireni’s neighbouring villages have joined the project and not a single tree has been lost. These villages are the only ones in the valley with zero logging.
