No. Not the emotional rubbish, crying into your egg sandwich rubbish. But the kind of rubbish that we accumulate from our Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 working routine.

How about the clothes on your back? Huh? Me? My shirt is 100% cotton? But did you know it takes 700 gallons of water to make a cotton shirt. Clothes can take up to 40 years to decompose, yet we waste an estimated 300,000 tons of textiles each year. We can still look sleek for the office but let’s avoid fast fashion and remember to recycle your clothes–believe it or not, 95% of textiles can be recycled!
Keeping your recyclables separate to your teabags might seem simple enough, but is part of the daily office struggle. Despite moving towards more digital platforms, every person in the UK consumes the equivalent of 4.48 trees per year. Do you really need to print out that presentation? The infinite web space is more accessible, ditch the paper print outs and go digital. The waste paper bin is your best friend, don’t forget to feed it.
We use approximately 7.7 billion plastic bottles nationwide each year,the average London adult buys around 175 bottles every year–not enough of which are recycled. Choose durable alternatives, like reusable water bottles, food containers and recycled rubbish bags, eliminating the rubbish in your rubbish. Simple changes like using a fancy reusable coffee cup can help curb our disposable purge.
